LACASA Center will be hosting a free film event on Thursday, April 15, 2021 to help raise awareness about the backlog of untested rape kits and why eliminating the backlog is instrumental in providing survivors with a path to healing and justice. The event is scheduled from 3:30pm – 6pm and will be held via Zoom conferencing.

Watch a special documentary screening of “I Am Evidence” and hear from our featured speaker, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. Kym appears prominently in the film and was instrumental in addressing the issue regarding the backlog of untested rape kits in Detroit.

The event concludes with a discussion exploring the issue of the high volume of untested rape kits in the United States, why the backlog occurred, what is being done to address this issue, and how the backlog impacts survivors.

The film and discussion will center around why eliminating the backlog is instrumental in providing survivors with a path to healing and justice.

Note- Zoom link will be emailed following registration

This event is sponsored by LACASA Center’s Community Education Department.
